Domtar has worked in collaboration with Rainforest Alliance for many years on responsible paper production and fiber sourcing.

Domtar and the Rainforest Alliance Relationship Milestones

2000

Domtar worked with SmartWood, the Rainforest Alliance’s FSC®-accredited certifier, to achieve the company’s first FSC certificate in the Adirondack Mountains in upstate NY.

2004

Domtar was presented with the Rainforest Alliance’s Sustainable Standard-Setter and Green Globe Awards, honoring Domtar as a significant contributor to environmental conservation and sustainability.

2005

Domtar and the Rainforest Alliance signed a Collaborative Agreement to work together to encourage responsible paper production and fiber sourcing. The Rainforest Alliance publicly supported the newly launched Domtar EarthChoice line of socially and environmentally responsible papers. All EarthChoice products proudly bear the Rainforest Alliance Certified™ seal, along with the FSC trademark and Domtar EarthChoice logo.

2007

The Rainforest Alliance announced a commitment at the Clinton Global Initiative to work with Domtar on increasing their use of wood from responsibly managed forestlands certified to the standards of the FSC.

2009

Domtar and the Rainforest Alliance renewed their Collaborative Agreement, continuing to work toward responsible paper production and fiber sourcing.
